“Seeboh_v2” is a modernist antiqua variant display font with high stroke contrasts and expressive ball-terminals. It features many of the Bodoni characteristics—but without the serifs.

“Seeboh_2” is—like the name suggests—the seccond itteration of that font concept. “Seeboh” was my first typedesign based on a character. Cibo (pronounced Seeboh) is a character in Tsutomu Nihei’s manga “Blame!”. I visual theme that runs throughout that manga is the juxtaposition of cold and hugh architecture with organic shapes. Cibo inhabits several bodies over the course of the story—all of whom are artificially made. The last element I took inspiration from was the machinery that featured many tubes and cables.

Bodoni-like typedesigns to me express cold elegance. To break up this rigid-ness I introduced tumor-like shapes, as a call-back to the body-horror present in the manga. Because in the story things constantly re-assemble and re-merge I thought it fitting to go ham on the ligatures.

The result is this display font, that is both: Beautiful and challenging.
