Catching Vapor

«Catching Vapor» is a small 3D experience that translates prominent Vaporwave themes into the medium of video games.
Each of the explorable scenes is dedicated to one of the before-mentioned topics in Vaporwave. The first deals with the commodification of romantic love. In the scene the visitor experiences how a confession goes from profound to irritating to downright meaningless and annoying. The second scene deals with the push and pull one encounters in Vaporwave. The music creates a sense of nostalgia for a bygone time within the listener but at the same time it makes the chasm separating the listener from said time very obvious. In the scene the player reenacts this dichotomy when they try to approach the movie playing in one of the rooms—they can only watch from a distance, without being able to get close.
The game was built in Unity.
