“Flaws?” Surely you mean “cute?”

“MikuMiku” is my answer to the question: “What would a font for Hatsune Miku look like?”

I elaborated on how I decided on the typeface’s features in “A Voice through Type” (under “Design Works”). The main guidelines for the design were: “diva-like” and “android imitating humans.” I translated those attributes into high constrast serifs and inverted letter proportions.

Around that time I also came across W Type Foundry’s “Cassius.” They also worked with inverted letter proprotions. And, I simply liked it so much, that I had to apply some of their shape concepts to “MikuMiku.”

“MikuMiku” is very much still a work in progress. A lot of diacritics are missing and I want to work on polish some of the details. But as a display font it is already quite useable. That’s why for now “MikuMiku” can be used for free.
